Fermented Beverage Weekend Intensive 2023 – NC

Fermented foods are a fundamental and very traditional way to preserve foods before refrigeration was an option. Not only is it pivotal for our gut health, but learning how to preserve our foods without using power can be important in a number of different situations.
Over the days we are together we will learn the history, cultural implications of and how to create (and do ourselves!) a number of different types of fermented beverages. We will discuss how these can be used on a daily basis as well as how they can really help you thrive no matter what else happens in the world around us. Some of the things we will cover and create as a group:
- Fruit vinegar
- Fire cider instructions
These four fermented beverages were picked specifically. The ways the benefit our health, the long history of use throughout tie, the ways they can be used to preserve different foods, their potential a trade or barter items, and how they make life a little bit more enjoyable.
At the end of the intensive everyone will go home with knowledge of and experience making each one of these items, instructions and handouts and samples of each.
